This is going to be the difficult section of the website to complete. We are starting with Tron Deady Discs on the Intellivision by Mattel and it is an absolute classic game. The system polls both joystick ports simultaneously to get a sixteen bit number for details of button presses and disc direction. By using the second controller (a method adopted by Atari on their systems for conversions like Robotron) a firing direction can be used. It is a Twin Stick Shooter in the true sense.

Do not dismiss the Intellivision based on it's age and graphical capabilities - Tron Deadly Discs is a true fantastic game regardless of platform or graphic capabilities.

We are trying to compile a spreadsheet with the definitive historical list of games described as "Twin Stick Shooters" on all platforms. Various games fall into this category but in the main we consider it to be those games that control movement with one joystick and firing direction with the other.

Games such as Battlezone or Crazy Climber would not be considered Twin Stick Shooters but will have a place here in the "SIMILAR" section of the site as will other titles like Forgotten Worlds.
